Good evening everyone.
Due to recent press coverage, we have started to receive questions: Who are we, and why does this page exist?
Independence Guard Alliance was formed by local residents of Eastern Independence seeking a factual and transparent accounting of how recent decisions surrounding projects on Bly Road have been made.
Many of us entered this process with little understanding of how local government functions. What followed has been a rapid education in city processes, public accountability, and the reality that government does not always operate in the best interests of its citizens.
Because of the seriousness of the concerns involved, we have been working with legal counsel regarding our grievances and findings. We have been advised that substantial concerns already exist and our case is being crafted carefully and methodically.
We are not interested in reckless accusations, emotional outrage, slander, rumors, or half-truths.
Our commitment is to facts, documentation, transparency, and accountability.
If claims are proven false, we will retract them. If wrongdoing is uncovered, we will pursue lawful and appropriate remedies through the rights afforded to us by our city, county, state, and federal systems.
We love this city. We love its people, its neighborhoods, and the way of life many families have built here over generations.
We support thoughtful development, strong local jobs, sustainable economics, fiscal responsibility, and leadership that serves the public honestly and transparently.
We do not advocate violence, threats, harassment, or intimidation, and those behaviors will not be tolerated on this page.
This page exists for citizens who believe truth matters, accountability matters, and the future of Eastern Jackson County and Independence is worth protecting.
We have started this process and will be providing more details soon.
We would encourage you to save the evening of June 2nd from 6-9pm as we will (finally) start bringing these concerns forward as sunlight is a great disinfectant for misinformation and mistrust.
